It's about time... Congressman Steve Stockman has just introduced a resolution (HR 664) to throw Lois Lerner in jail.        It's for real... it's been a long time coming... and the beauty of Stockman's resolution is that all it takes is a majority in the House of Representatives to pass the resolution to send Lois Lerner – the Obama IRS official at the heart of the conservative targeting scandal – straight to jail.        Harry Reid can't stop it. Barack Obama can't stop it and he can't pardon her. If the Republican-led House of Representatives passes this resolution, the House Sergeant at Arms will then go straight to Lois Lerner's home (hopefully with network television cameras rolling), perp-walk her to a D.C. jail cell, and she'll stay there either until the next Congress goes into session in January of 2015 or until she sings like a canary about the details of the targeting scandal and all those involved.        The American people deserve to know what Barack Obama and other high-ranking officials in his White House knew, and when they knew it and Lois Lerner is the key.        But... if HR 664 is going to come to a vote and pass, our elected officials need to hear from you right here and right now! I Wanna Know Who's Going To Jail."        That's what John Boehner said; but when it came time to act upon his words, he had the audacity to ask Barack Obama's chief apparatchik, Eric Holder, to do the deed for him.        Here's what Congressman Stockman said upon filing his resolution: "Asking the Justice Department to prosecute Lois Lerner for admittedly illegal activity is a joke. The Obama administration will not prosecute the Obama administration. How much longer will the House allow itself to be mocked? It is up to this House to uphold the rule of law and hold accountable those who illegally targeted American citizens for simply having different ideas than the president."        Indeed... the American people are still waiting for Eric Holder to prosecute himself over Fast and Furious. The problem is not that members of the Republican leadership in Congress are fools. The problem is that they believe that you're a fool.        Stockman added: "It's time for the House to stop tacitly endorsing this administration's illegal activity by refusing to hold him accountable. I expect Democrats to defend and even praise criminal activity. The question is whether Republican leadership will join them in mocking the House and breaking the law."        Enough is enough. The House of Representatives can throw Lois Lerner in jail until the next Congress convenes in January of 2015 (or until she agrees to testify and spill the goods) and the courts, Barack Obama and Harry Reid would have nothing to say about it as each branch of Congress has what is called "inherent contempt" authority.        As explained in the Washington Examiner: "According to a 2012 Congressional Research Service report, inherent contempt has the unique advantage that it doesn't require 'the cooperation or assistance of either the executive or judicial branches. The House or Senate can, on its own, conduct summary proceeding and cite the offender for contempt.'"        The House's inherent contempt authority is not some obscure or seldom used stipulation of law. Congress exercised it as early as 1795 and on a number of occasions through 1934.        Furthermore, the Supreme Court affirmed Congress' inherent contempt authority in Jurney v. MacCracken and it is generally held that presidential pardons do not apply to those who are imprisoned under Congress' inherent contempt authority as Contempt of Congress is considered to be a civil offense.        Question: What's stopping John Boehner and House Republicans from throwing Lois Lerner in the clink? Justice should not be a rare commodity.        We already know that Lois Lerner presided over the weaponizing of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and used it as a tool to silence conservative voices to help assure the reelection of Barack Obama.        We know that she went before Congress and, after asserting her innocence, tried to invoke her rights under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution. ... Sorry Lois, it doesn't work that way. You're not allowed to present your case and then clam up.        We know that Congress worked with Lerner's attorneys for months to bring her back to Congress to testify and when she came before Congress again, she immediately tried to invoke the Fifth again.        And now, here's the icing on the cake. We now know that Lois Lerner was in contact with Eric Holder's Department of Injustice in May of 2013 about whether conservatives could be CRIMINALLY PROSECUTED while the campaign to silence them was in full swing.        Obviously, we can't trust Eric Holder to pursue contempt charges against Lois Lerner. As Senator Ted Cruz said, "DOJ's credibility to investigate IRS scandal(s) is gone."        Congress must do what must be done and we must demand that Congress do what must be done.
