Russian President Vladimir Putin begins his visit to Serbia on October 16 where he will meet with Tomislav Nikolic, Aleksandar Vucic and other Serbian leaders. Putin will attend the signing of several important agreements and will participate in the military parade on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade where he will address the audience, reports Evening News.
- The main thing is that a positive direction and support of the Serbs is felt. Serbian friends expect and welcome a visit of Putin. The visit has symbolic meaning and is positive for Serbia and for Russia and for Europe - told the News Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Čepurin. Čepurin said that Putin did not have any specific requirements for the arrival in Belgrade, and it is expected that the main topic of the visit to Belgrade will be bilateral cooperation, especially economic relations.
He added that Moscow is satisfied with Serbia's balanced arguments about the Ukrainian crisis, and he pointed out that Serbia's leaning towards the European Union is understandable. - The world is globalizing. This is not an either-or choice, if you join the EU you will be against Russia and vice versa, if you cooperate with the Eurasian economic union, then you are against the EU - said the ambassador, adding that Serbia and Russia sisters.
Putin shall be accompanied by a delegation of about 150 people in Serbia, and they will come with three airplanes. What is the interest of journalists for Putin's visit to Serbia is illustrated that only from Russia comes about 70 journalists.
